Greetings Music Lovers!
The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra with music director James R. Cassidy kicks off its 33rd season. The orchestra, founded by Cassidy in 1992 to make symphonic music and the concert experience “attractive, accessible and affordable” for Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati residents, has fashioned a thematic, unique brand of culture and entertainment in the Tristate that covers array of styles, genres and eras. This season, all of our subscription concerts will be performed in Greaves Concert Hall at NKU.
The 2024-25 season opens with two very different holiday celebrations, one marking Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and, in December, a retooling of last season’s popular Carpenters Christmas show featuring Denise Parroco. In 2025, war-themed works by Prokofiev and Shostakovich heat up January in “Back in the U.S.S.R.” We’re excited to be working in March 2025 with the music, dance, theater and prep departments of NKU’s School of the Arts on a concert production of Carmen with nationally acclaimed lead singers. The season closes with “Swingin’ the Classics” — an all-star big-band take on works by Bach, Brahms, Gershwin, Holst, Mozart, Suppé and more. (Click on the titles below for additional concert information.)
