No Hitchcock here, but plenty of truly great short classical pieces. Classical composers have long looked back on their predecessors for inspiration, form, style and an occasional tune. Prokofiev, Ravel, Respighi and Walton reflect on Haydn, Couperin, Bach and others. Eighteen year old flute phenom Annie Wu makes her regional debut as soloist in Lukas Foss’ Renaissance Concerto and performs her YouTube channel hit, “Three Pieces for Beat-box Flute.”
